Taunton set to miss out on Tour of Britain - TAUNTON is set to miss out on this summer's Tour of Britain race, which will start in Chard this year. [Taunton News]

This is a shame as I for one enjoyed going in to town and watching this event as it finished. I can prove I was there as I uploaded the images I took into a gallery just for this event. Tour Gallery I wonder why Taunton is being missed out this year as Chard is still the starting point as I believe it was last year. They are just taking a different route and missing Taunton. Did someone decide that the crash could too easily happen again and this was the reason or is someone trying to highlight other areas of this county.

It was a good sunny day and the town centre was very busy for the duration. I do wonder, however, if businesses in the town actually benefitted from the event. I am sure the food outlets certainly did well out of it but I would be interested to know how normal shopping was affected by the day. If anyone has any info on that please post a reply comment.
