Relief road plans on show - PROPOSALS for a new road between Staplegrove Road and Priory Bridge Road in Taunton will be aired next week. [Taunton News]

Well it is about time that our town centre got some relief. I may well go down and have a look at these plans to see exactly what they have in mind. I would also like to know what happened to the planned road from Tesco to where Lidl is now located. I thought this was supposed to be put in by Tesco as part of the package that allowed them to build on the site in the first place. If this is true why hasn't this been produced. What has happened to plans to build a proper ring road around Taunton along with pedestrianising the town centre. I do believe there were also some plans in the works for this. Wellington has a nice ring road to divert traffic around the town and I find it rather ludacris that travelling from Trull to the motorway requires either going through the town centre or country lanes.
